Consulting recruiting timeline, as of October 2026
As of October 2026, the summer 2027 internship deadlines for undergrads at McKinsey, BCG, Bain and Oliver Wyman have passed. They closed between March and August 2026. This fall belongs to Big 4 strategy arms and smaller firms, and MBA applications close in November.

Earlier than junior fall
McKinsey's deadline for summer 2027 interns was March 29, 2026, and BCG's page now says its 2027 internships are closed. For MBB, sophomore spring is the new application season.
Junior fall is for everyone else
EY-Parthenon, PwC and Strategy&, Deloitte strategy and boutiques such as L.E.K. take applications from September to November.
A test before the cases
BCG sends its assessment 30 to 90 minutes after you apply, with 48 hours to finish. EY sends its skills assessment within one business day.
Schools set the offer clock
Harvard asks for at least until October 9, 2026 or three weeks, and bans exploding offers. Yale asks for October 10 or four weeks.

McKinsey's Connect with McKinsey runs September 2026 to June 2027 for roles starting in 2028. Bain's sophomore programs (BEL, CREW, First Forward) take applications from mid-October to November 30, 2026.

Last cycle McKinsey, Bain and Oliver Wyman closed on March 29. Bain says its intern applications typically open in the spring.

Harvard lists BCG's intern deadline as June 2 and Bain's second one as August 31, 2026.

When do consulting internship applications open?
For McKinsey, Bain and Oliver Wyman, in the spring of sophomore year for the summer before senior year: last cycle's deadline was March 29, 2026. Big 4 strategy arms and many boutiques take applications in the fall of junior year.
Is it too late to apply for summer 2027?
For MBB undergrad internships, yes, as of October 2026. Deloitte strategy is open until November 1, and Bain's sophomore programs until November 30. MBA applications close in November.
When will summer 2028 dates be posted?
No firm had posted them by October 15, 2026. If the last cycle repeats, MBB opens in early 2027. Check each firm's deadline page from January.
How long does consulting recruiting take from application to offer?
Usually weeks. The test comes within days of applying, then first and final rounds. Strategy& tells MBA candidates it decides within three weeks of the interview day.
How long do I have to accept an offer?
It depends on your school's rules. For fall 2026 offers, Harvard asks firms to allow until October 9 or three weeks, Yale October 10 or four weeks, and Penn three weeks. MBA deadlines run from January 29 to February 15, 2027.
When do MBA consulting interviews happen?
Mostly the first week of January. In 2027 Wharton, Stanford, Booth and Fuqua start January 4, and HBS January 5.
