How to use it

Three steps for each prompt

Keep each rep short. Ten prompts in a week teaches more than one long one.

  1. 1

    Get a prompt and clarify

Pick consumer, B2B or local, or take any prompt. Before you calculate, say what exactly you are sizing: the geography, the time period, and whether you mean units or dollars.

  2. 2

    Structure, then calculate

Choose top-down (start from the population and narrow down) or bottom-up (start from one unit, such as a store, and scale up). Write each assumption as a round number and keep the arithmetic simple.

  3. 3

    Compare and sanity check

Reveal the worked approach, compare both methods and check that the answer makes sense per person or per store. Then do the same prompt out loud.

Everything you need to know about Soreno, answered in one place.

Do many short reps out loud and under a clock, not a few long ones. Take a prompt, spend five minutes on a structure and an answer, then compare it with a worked approach and fix one thing. This page gives you 32 original prompts across consumer, B2B and local markets, a five-minute timer and a worked top-down and bottom-up answer for every prompt.
A top-down estimate starts from a large number, such as the population, and narrows it with percentages until you reach the market. A bottom-up estimate starts from one unit, such as a store, a driver or a household, and scales it up by how many there are. Doing both and checking that they land close together is the strongest sanity check. The guides on what market sizing is and on market sizing interview questions go deeper on each.
No. Every input is a round practice assumption chosen to make the arithmetic clean. They are not sourced statistics and they are not a firm's interview answers. In a real interview the interviewer cares about your structure, your assumptions and your sanity check more than about matching a published figure.
No. All prompts were written by Soreno for practice. They follow the types of market sizing questions candidates commonly see (consumer products, B2B services and local businesses) but they are not a firm's private questions.
No. The tool runs in your browser. The prompts, your notes and the timer are not stored or sent anywhere, and you do not need an account.
Say your answer out loud as if an interviewer were listening, then run the same prompt again with a different approach. Soreno's AI interviewer does this with you: it asks follow-up questions on your assumptions and checks your math. Soreno includes 500+ practice questions, including 80+ full case studies, plus drills for market sizing and case math.
Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial that includes 2 mock interviews and 3 drills. After that, plans are $199 a month or $349 a year, and weekly from $64. See the pricing page for details.
