Free sample case: interviewer-led

A EY-Parthenon-style case you can try now

A sequence of questions: decompose the plan, read the market data, size the gap and recommend.

Step 1. Read the case

Stackwell Self Storage: does the growth plan hold up?

The interviewer reads you the case

A private equity fund is considering buying Stackwell Self Storage, which runs 60 storage facilities in one region. Management's plan shows next-year revenue rising by about 10%, from higher occupancy and higher rents. The fund asks you whether the plan is credible and what it means for the price.

An original, fictional practice case written by Soreno in a EY-Parthenon-style format. It is not a EY-Parthenon interview question. Everything stays in your browser.

Step 2. Ask clarifying questions

EY-Parthenon's guidance says to engage with the process and not recite a script. Ask what you need to test the plan, then structure.

Step 3. Structure your answer

Take two minutes. Structure how you would test management's plan the way commercial due diligence would, and say your first hypothesis out loud.

Soreno's AI interviewer gives you a full case, asks follow-up questions on your structure and math, and scores your answer. The 7-day free trial includes 2 mock interviews and 3 drills.

What the EY-Parthenon interview looks like

Here is what EY says about EY-Parthenon interviews on its own careers pages, and what it does not publish. Hiring is run country by country.

What EY-Parthenon says

  • In the US, candidates who advance interview with multiple EY-Parthenon professionals in a mix of behavioral and case-based interviews, and offer decisions typically come within a week of interviews. EY-Parthenon US: Associate Program.
  • In Australia, the graduate process is typically over two or three rounds. The first round has two problem-solving interviews, in which the interviewer knows nothing about you beforehand, based on a real-world business scenario, plus a traditional interview. EY-Parthenon Australia: Strategy.
  • The Australian page says the case studies are designed to simulate strategy consulting work, assess how you think rather than what you know, and that candidates should focus less on reciting a script or a pre-researched framework and more on communicating and structuring their thoughts clearly. EY-Parthenon Australia: Strategy.
  • In the Netherlands, the first round at the office includes a numerical test, an interview with recruitment staff and two case interviews, and the final round has three interviews with an Associate Partner or Partner. EY-Parthenon Netherlands: Students and entry-level.
  • EY's general interview tips say it relies on behavioral interviewing, asking for examples of past situations, and suggest preparing 10 to 15 examples you can adapt. These tips cover all of EY, not only EY-Parthenon. EY US: Interview tips.

What EY-Parthenon does not publish

  • the number of rounds, how long interviews are or the case format.
  • who leads the case. EY's pages do not say whether the interviewer or the candidate drives it. The sequence of questions in the sample case is Soreno's practice style, not an EY statement.
  • scoring criteria, pass marks or how interviews are weighted. Formats differ by country, so check what your invitation describes.

Practice in Soreno

How Soreno's AI interviewer maps to EY-Parthenon practice

These are features that exist in the Soreno app today. They practice the skills EY-Parthenon's guidance describes. They do not reproduce its questions or scoring.

  • 1

    No EY-Parthenon-specific interviewer style

Soreno has McKinsey, BCG, Bain, strict and coach interviewer styles and a default style, but no EY-Parthenon style. Use the default interviewer for a balanced conversation. EY leans on behavioral interviewing too, so practice behavioral answers with the behavioral questions in Soreno.

  • 2

    Interviewer-led or interviewee-led

You choose the interview style in Settings. Interviewer-led means the AI asks a sequence of questions; interviewee-led means you drive the case and decide what to analyze. Try both, because firms and interviewers differ.

  • 3

    Exhibits and math checks

The AI interviewer shows exhibits, asks you to walk through calculations and checks your arithmetic. Timed drills cover case math, market sizing and structuring.

  • 4

A scored report that quotes you

After each session you get feedback that points to moments in your own answer and a next-step plan. Recorded sessions also get filler-word and eye-contact analysis.

You set the interviewer personality and the interview style in Settings, under Interview preferences. Soreno does not simulate EY's numerical tests, written cases or video assessments. EY-Parthenon also does commercial due diligence work, but EY does not say its interview cases come from it.
