Best MBA interview prep (2026): consultants, mock interviews and free options

The best MBA interview prep starts free: read your school's own interview page and past applicants' reports on Clear Admit. Then practice out loud with friends or an AI interviewer such as Soreno or Clear Admit's simulator. Admissions consultants such as Menlo, Fortuna, Stacy Blackman and mbaMission sell paid mock interviews, which many applicants save for HBS or Wharton.

Last checked October 30, 2026. Written by Soreno, one of the options. Formats and prices from each provider's own page.

Which MBA interview prep should you use?

Soreno is an AI interviewer built for the one-on-one interview: you answer admissions questions out loud, it follows up on your story, and every answer gets a score out of 100 with the lines to change. For Wharton's Team Based Discussion, a group exercise, rehearse with other applicants and use Soreno for the one-on-one that follows. See Soreno for MBA interviews.

What does each kind of MBA prep give you?

Reports tell you what schools ask. Mock interviews test whether your answers hold up out loud, under follow-up questions.

AI interviewer, voice

Soreno

Voice AI mock interviews for MBA admissions, scored out of 100

What Soreno does

  • You answer admissions questions out loud. The AI interviewer follows up on your role, your choices and the result, the way an interviewer who read your file would.
  • 120+ MBA questions: why an MBA and why now, your goals, your resume walkthrough, why this school, and leadership, teamwork and setback stories, plus HBS-, Wharton- and Stanford GSB-style sets, each with a model answer.
  • Upload your resume and the interviewer asks about it.
  • Every mock gets a score out of 100 for structure, content and communication, with your own words quoted and what to say instead.
  • Recorded sessions get filler-word and eye-contact notes, and every mock is saved with its recording, transcript and feedback.
  • Built for the one-on-one interview, including the short one-on-one after Wharton's Team Based Discussion. The discussion itself is a group exercise you rehearse with other applicants.
  • The free week needs a card and costs $0 today. The plan you pick starts after 7 days unless you cancel.

You want to rehearse your answers out loud many times before the interview, at any hour, with follow-ups and a score.

FAQ's

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Soreno, answered in one place.

Read the school's own interview page, study recent reports for that school on Clear Admit, then practice your answers out loud until they sound natural, not memorized. Why an MBA, your goals, your resume walkthrough and two or three leadership stories cover most questions.
A single consultant mock session costs about $500 to $1,550 on the pages above. It is most useful for formats that are hard to rehearse alone, like HBS's fast follow-ups or Wharton's group discussion. For general practice, friends, alumni and an AI interviewer give you more reps for less.
Have someone who hasn't heard your stories ask the common questions and push with follow-ups, or use Soreno's AI interviewer, which asks out loud and scores each answer. Record it, listen back, and fix the answers that ran long or stayed vague.
Soreno is built for the one-on-one interview, including the short one-on-one that follows Wharton's TBD. The TBD itself is a 35-minute group exercise with 5 to 6 applicants, so rehearse it with other applicants or a moderated session such as mbaMission's or Stacy Blackman's.
Soreno is for practice before the interview. HBS's rules are about the interview itself: AI tools, including transcription and note-taking apps, are not allowed during the interview, and HBS does not expect outside help with the Post-Interview Reflection. Never use any tool during a real interview, and check each school's own page.
Clear Admit's archive has over 2,000 questions from applicants' reports, filtered by school. mbaMission lists school interview guides among its free guides.
Each price was read from the provider's own page in October 2026 and is linked on its card. Prices and offers change, so check before you buy.
